Well, I never thought I would be going across enemy lines, but since we have this break in college football, I thought I would mix it up with some of the little wishful leprechauns.

The avatar - hey, I thought you all would love it. It was the last time the Irish came oh so close to beating the Men of Troy in the last 7 years. The little leprechauns came within 3 points on that fateful day. Six out of the last seven years - you needed at least 21 points to win. I am just trying to look at your little pot of gold half full - vs. half empty of defeat for the past 7 years.

I realized we are approaching spring football, and every team starts fresh at 0-0. I admire some of the optimism, although I am trying to figure out what has changed. Plus, do you really want to have these high expectations, only to have those expectations buried by the weight of the losses.

Round Chuck is still the head coach. On one hand, I would have liked the Irish to fire Chuckie - and hire a qualified Division 1A coach - there would be a glimmer of hope for some competition when the Trojans roll into South Bend. Unfortunately, I suspect that fat contract had some weight on the decision to retain Chuckie. He's quite full of himself - even though he hasn't done much since taking over. I am not sure where he finds the arrogance - when he doesn't back it up. By retaining our favorite Irish coach - the October 17th game looks promising in a "reloading" year for Troy.

The players are the same - although, it appears you had a decent recruiting year, I believe it was rated 14th overall. Chuckie should be able to sell playing at Notre Dame so easily - but somehow, never quite makes that top 10 recruiting splash. By the way - USC was rated No. 4 - another Top 5 recruiting class.

Did I mention - I loved it when the Round Mound of Chuck appointed himself as the offensive coordinator. Even with a reloaded defense, Pete will have the "D" ready to go by October. Plus, the new QB will be in sync.

Really, the only chances you had to break the streak - fire Chuckie, hire Meyer and schedule USC (at South Bend) the first game of the season - when the new D, QB and coaches are still getting acclimated to Petey's system.

I finally found your “hope”! Your optimism is in your schedule! WOW - a nice powder puff schedule. What? Saint Mary's Girls Football team didn't have any open dates this year? That could have been nicely scheduled in between any number of games.

The schedule, lucky charms and a four leaf clover - and the Irish have a 7-5 year. Maybe you can play Hawaii or another WAC team in a bowl game. Enjoy the off-season – when the season starts, that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow – will be a pot of coal at the end of the year. Thanks Chuck!

    hahaha, I like Troy.
    How's Tony Bush doing?
Does he know where his parents are living?
Oh and OJ Mayo, another stellar academic/athletic type, so familiar to the Hall of Troy.
Don't force me to call "Bruin Nation."
