My take on Weis- not that we need another.

Brady Quinn, Trevor Laws, Derick Landri, The Shark, The Duke, ZIbby, Mike Richardson, Ambrose Wooden, Corey Mays, Hoyt, Abiamiri, Justin Brown, Maurice Crum, Anthony Fasano, John Carlson, Ryan Harris, Stevenson and Santucci, and heck, even Bob Morton.

That is the group of guys that Weis inherited.

That is the group of guys that was so far underachieving under Ty Willingham that I could have coached them and won nine games.

Charlie Weis set the bar really high for himself. He won immediately. He has a near national championship year, and another really great year. He did that with a group of upperclassmen who had incredible work ethic, poise and passion.

He was coaching a pro team.

Now, lets take our way back machine, not so way back and look at the rosters of the last couple of seasons prior to 09.

It was a high school team.

Players mentioned above seemingly all graduated at the same time. Recruits came in, in surplus fashion, but they were young and had never seen college athletics lifestyle modeled for them. The staff around them was pretty clueless as to how prepare high school athletes to compete at the next level.

All these points are made to support this point- If we strip away Weis's first two years, he ends up with one of the worst records in Notre Dame history. However, at the same time, his teams have shown incredible progress every year- save his first two years.

Weis is learning. I don't know where his ceiling is. It doesn't help that he is cocky too and sometimes stubborn, but he is learning.

I get frustrated when Weis outsmarts himself- with QB sneaks on 3-7 and passing in a clock burning situation. But I am certain Weis is more frustrated with himself than I am with him.

I am not saying we should offer an additional 5 years onto the 5 we have left with Weis. Nor I am saying we should fire him. What I am saying is we should see how this season plays out.

Michigan beat us. Bottom line. There was a "perfect storm" (yuck the cliche) that happened yesterday. There was poor officiating, critical injuries, and poor coaching. If any of those three things were missing, we would have won.

Unfortunately there is only one of those that Charlie Weis can control- the gamecalling.

I will end by saying this- Jon Tenuta has been given a get out of jail free card with Weis taking the heat for his poor playcalling. We let them score 38 points. More times than not, at team that scores 38 will win. Especially at home, in one of the most intense places to play.

So, yeah Weis screwed up, but lets not run him out of town with pitchforks....yet.

Juicebox is now fortified with Vitamin C. He resides in the residue and enjoys fly fishing. That is not true. His hobbies included blaming things on Charlie Weis- like Swine Flu and moral decay.

What a ridiculous comment. Obviously the man can coach. Is Charlie in charge of the defense this year?

I think Amish addressed issue one fairly succinctly.

Big Dog- I think running the table is a bit strong. If we lose to USC he keeps his job.
